RTÉ is delighted to be involved in the Web Summit for the last four years. For the second year in a row, RTÉ Digital and RTÉ Radio 1 are media partners at this event.
This year we’ll be streaming the event live through www.rte.ie
, taking part in the ringing of the Nasdaq Bell, which will be rung for the very first time in Ireland, in the presence of An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny. Múirne Laffan, RTÉ Digital’s Managing Director is participating in a panel with the BBC and the Guardian. Coverage from Morning Ireland, Today with Séan O’Rourke, and the Six One News and News Now, will also be complemented by RTÉ Digital interviews which will be available via the RTÉ Digital blog, which can be accessed via the home page.
A prominent RTÉ Digital stand will encompass a networking area.

About the Web Summit
Described as Ireland’s most exciting tech event, running for two days over 30th and 31st October in the RDS, Dublin.
With nearly 10,000 attendees, 500 startups, 400 top investors, 350 international speakers, this year’s two day event boasts diverse speakers such as Kevin Rose from Google, Jay Bergman from Hailo, David Carr, New York Times, Daniel Heaf, Head of Digital worldwide for the BBC, Jimmy Maymann CEO, The Huffington Post, David Rowan, Editor of Wired and MD RTÉ Digital, Múirne Laffan.
The organisers are likening this year’s event – which is bigger than ever – to a European South By South West, the famous Austin, Texas interactive conference that takes place every Spring.
With over six stages, the two day event is packed with tech and social media content, from the Main Stage, Digital Stage, Development Stage, Cloud Stage, People’s Stage and Start-up Stage. In addition, General Assembly – a global education company will run 50 hands-on classes on business, technology and design, in a series of workshops.

Content is King – speaking panel
Múirne Laffan, Managing Director, RTÉ Digital will be part of a panel with Daniel Heaf, BBC Worldwide’s Chief Digital Officer and Tonya Cordrey, Chief Digital Officer of Guardian News and Media.
Situated in the main hall a prominent stand will encompass a networking area with a backdrop of RTÉ Radio 1 and RTÉ News Now rolling broadcasts.
Nasdaq Launch – RTÉ will be part of the Podium Party at the ringing of the Nasdaq Bell for the first time in Ireland, which will be officiated by An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny.
