The venue is literally buzzing with over 250 projects from @Coolestprojects with Coder Dojo – queues formed outside the Helix this morning and you’d be mistaken in thinking everyone was queuing for a One Direction concert. The enthusiasm is palpable, children, parents, and mentors all investigating each other’s projects! They say that the simplest ideas are the best, and the brainchild of Bill Liao and James Whelton, the now “global” coding movement has over 300 Dojos in 30 countries and growing!!!
Bill laid down a challenge to all children to start their own Dojos! As fundamental to today’s world as learning to read and write, this movement is changing the way children view technology, and Coder Dojo has made what was always cool even cooler. Children in Dojo’s are already creating technology that is commercially viable…there is now a very very very small bridge between being a cool tech Dojo guy or girl and running a start-up…We have our own Silicon Valley in Ireland, beyond the big multinationals, and it’s soon to be in every parish – it’s called Coder Dojo.
