In a Skype call which will be broadcast on RTÉ Two Tube on Thursday 18th April at 6.00 pm, NASA astronaut Mike Foreman will announce the winners of the U.S. Embassy Space Camp® Competition. A special segment on RTÉ Two Tube at 6:30 pm, will show highlights of the winners’ reactions.
The winners are:

The competition prizes, sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Dublin, will include fully funded trips to Space Camp® in Huntsville, Alabama during the summer of 2013. The U.S. Embassy’s Office of Public Affairs launched the 2013 Space Camp® Competition at the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition at the RDS on January 10, 2013. The competition winners will receive flights and scholarships to attend Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama for students (age 15-18) during the summer of 2013.
SPACE CAMP® was founded in 1982 as the U.S. Space & Rocket Center Museum’s education program to promote the study of math, science, and technology. This educational program couples classroom instruction with hands-on activities and teaches teamwork, decision-making, and leadership.
Niamh McCabe and Eoghan Gilleran submitted winning essays on the U.S. Embassy website describing why they would make good candidates for Space Camp. This competition is part of the U.S. Embassy’s science outreach in 2013.
