This week RTÉ2 unveiled its most ambitious documentary and factual entertainment schedule to date, boasting over 30 new and returning series along with over 18 new documentaries, featuring a host of leading Irish talent.
From the Rubberbandits Guide to 1916 to Louise McSharry’s personal journey in F**k Cancer, the new season sees more Irish-produced documentaries, comedy and entertainment for 15-34 year olds than any other channel in Ireland, along with an unrivalled selection of sporting action.
Other highlights include new factual entertainment series from Baz Ashmawy, Angela Scanlon, Vogue Williams, Maia Dunphy, Bressie and The McDonaghs alongside an Irish version of the hit international format, First Dates.
This follows RTÉ One announcing the channel’s biggest line up of new programming in recent years with over 50 brand new series and documentaries. The new season schedule will deliver new Sunday night drama, a new slate of documentaries for Monday nights, brand new lifestyle series for mid-week and new entertainment for weekends along with the best in news and current affairs.
From Sunday night drama in the new four part series, Clean Break to factual programming such as Crumlin, filmed over 8 months and observing paediatric care from the point of view of the medical practitioners at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital there will be plenty to view live and on demand on RTÉ Player.
New additions to the entertainment line-up include the debut of The Ray D’Arcy Show to light up Saturday nights with Ryan Tubridy at the helm as The Late Late Show returns to Friday nights for a record breaking 56th season.
