RTÉ Player International is delighted to have won the BIMA (British Interactive Media Association) Native Mobile App award in association with partners Nice Agency. The BIMA Awards, held at One Embankment in London, saw industry guests gather to celebrate the most innovative and exciting digital and interactive work.
RTÉ Player International is the first dedicated global iOS app for Irish television content, offering over 500 hours of free and paid-for Irish television, including just-aired programmes and content refreshed daily.
Launched in March 2015 and developed with the objective of bringing Irish content closer to the thousands of Irish people living abroad, RTÉ Player International ensures viewers can access on-demand programmes including popular just-aired shows (The Late Late Show, Prime Time, Nationwide) as well as box sets (Love/Hate, The Clinic, RAW) and collections curated by RTÉ (The Best of Electric Picnic, Comedy Classics etc.).
Nice Agency and the RTÉ product team designed and developed the app focusing on the mental modes of the user, sectioning the player into Discover, Browse and Search. These well-defined areas ensure that RTÉ Player International provides a seamless and truly customer centric experience. The app, available on iOS devices, provides a number of key features such as live streaming of programmes and access to free content which is refreshed daily. The full content offering can be accessed and watched without advertising for a monthly in-app subscription. This balance ensures all customers can experience RTÉ content for free with an option to watch all content via a monthly subscription.
